We All Scream For Ice Cream!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Shannon and Bobbi went to Project Echo this past Thursday to represent Kaine and host an ice cream social for the residents. Trish Gipson, the Director of PE, was hosting a Resource Day for the residents, which allows them the ability to meet and speak with different organizations throughout Calvert County for various opportunities. These opportunities come in the forms of jobs and housing, giving each person the chance for a new start.

The Project Echo home is located in Prince Frederick, MD and allows housing to over 35 men, women and children who are without a place to stay. Trish, the PE staff and the residents all work together to maintain a safe and clean environment for everyone.

Project Echo does accept donations, in the form of meals, household items, toiletries and volunteer time. For more information on Project Echo and how you can help, please visit their website.

Thank you Project Echo for having us!

Everyone here at Kaine Homes wishes the Long Family the best of luck in their new home!

Appreciation From Our Troops!

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

We were lucky enough to receive messages from our troops April and Brendan recently letting us know they received our care packages we mailed at the beginning of December! Here’s a little of what they had to say…

April
(Far right)
april
“Thank you so so so much for the packages. I would love to be able to send pictures for you all, but i have no way of getting them online here! Hope you all have happy holidays! And Thanks again!”

Brendan
Soldier
“I am happy to say that I have received all four of the packages that you sent. I cannot express how much it means to me. My Rangers have put everything that you sent to good use. Rest assured, all things edible are most likely gone at this point! More important is the thought and care that went into the each package. It is truly a shame that in today’s world, many Americans have no understanding of what is going in our Global War on Terrorism. Our country has been at war now for nearly a decade and the majority of Americans do not lose a minute of sleep over the thousands of Americans that have given their lives in defense of our great country. It is because of this disheartening fact that I appreciate what you have done for my men that much more….”

This is what the holiday season is about-Appreciation and giving. Kaine Homes hopes you had a wonderful holiday season and wishes you and your families a happy, healthy year!

Troops April Tennyson and Brendan McCarthy-Thank You for Serving!

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Kaine held its annual Christmas party for all employees this past Friday. In lieu of a gift exchange, the employees once again decided to contribute to several care packages for two special troops overseas. This time of year gives us the opportunity to reflect on giving and we certainly want to take the time to reflect on the men and women fighting for our country.

In addition, we had the very special privilege of having one of the troops who received our care packages last year attend the event. Michael Wilson, now a representative for Wounded Warrior Project, was kind enough to share his experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as his role helping recovering soldiers with WWP.

We had a wonderful day and look forward to hearing from our troops when they receive their care packages in the coming weeks.

Empty Bowl Supper Reception

Project Echo Hosts Empty Bowl Supper at Kaine Homes

Project Echo recently hosted their Empty Bowl Supper reception at the model home in our College Station community.

The Empty Bowl Supper event is held every Spring in Prince Frederick. For a small fee, patrons are able to pick a handcrafted bowl donated by potters and students in the area. Several soups and light fare (also donated by local restaurants and catering businesses) are then provided to enjoy the evening and support a great cause.

The reception was a way of thanking volunteers and Echo members for their hard work during this past supper and to begin planning for the 2011 event. The supper is a continuing effort to help the homeless in Calvert County.
