December Real Estate Sales

Monday, January 30th, 2012

We know we’re a bit behind in sharing the December sales here in Calvert County but wanted to be sure to share the following stats with you:

• The number of homes sold have remained steadily in the 60’s for the past three months
• The average sales price was the second lowest it’s been in a year
• Seller contributions continue to waiver in the $5,000-$6,000 area

We hope everyone had a great holiday season and we hope to see an increase in these numbers! See you next month!

Empty Bowls, Full Spirits!

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Last week, Kaine Homes hosted the Empty Bowl Supper reception for 2012. We welcomed about 30 artists and Project Echo representatives into the model for dinner and cocktails in preparation for the Empty Bowl Supper event in Spring.

This March, Project Echo will be hosting their annual Empty Bowl Supper to support their organization. The event will feature handmade bowls for purchase along with various soups from local chefs and restaurants. All proceeds support Project Echo.

More information on the event will become available on our blog and Facebook page, so be sure to check back in!

Movin’ On Up….

Signs point to a rise in new construction and the housing market overall, according to the Washington Post.

“A wide range of housing indicators — construction, home sales, prices — have stabilized in the past few months, although they remain at historically very low levels. And it looks as if construction activity in particular will pick up in 2012.”

New construction starts, in particular, showed a 9.3% increase in November 2011, the highest it’s been in 19 months. Issued building permits also increased by 5.7%.
